Barceló Hotels & Resorts

Responsible for the technical redesign and relaunch of the Barceló Hotels website; and the creation of the in-site Booking Engine.

The site integrates with Barceló's CRM and several 3rd party APIs to pull in availability and rate information and provide a seamless booking experience; which is then augmented by account functionality where a vistor to the site can register and manage their bookings. In addition many templates have been developed to provide a multitude of information; with custom functionality and interactions.

The site has been developed using Epifony, Pod1's custom Content Management System (which is based on the open source Symfony web application framework).

Responsible for the technical redesign and relaunch of the Chic Outlet Shopping portal website in 11 languages, which ties together Value Retail's 10 websites. Includes the integration of several 3rd party APIs including Flickr, Twitter and Resort Hoppa for Shuttle Bus booking between the Shopping Villages. I have also been involved in many additional large sub-projects for the site (many which span both this site and the Village sites).

The site has been developed using Epifony, Pod1's custom Content Management System (which is based on the open source Symfony web application framework).

Sani Resort

Responsible for the development, technical redesign and relaunch of the website for the luxury 5 star Sani Resort. The site was built using Epifony, our in-house Content Management System, the new site is home to 4 hotels. It has been designed to give the visitor and enhanced user experience, and to provide that extra layer of information that's essential to someone looking to book a holiday.

The site includes automatic language detection based on browser language (originally launched in English only; however has since added 4 more languages), a customised translation tool, interactive maps and integration with two 3rd party APIs for booking Hotels and Packages.

Involved in the development of a trilogy of websites launched individually for Conran, showcasing their work across all parts of the design process - from creating a range of cookware to residential towers and running shops, restaurants and hotels in major cities around the world to large scale urban masterplanning.

The Conran Homepage design was developed through the use of mood boards. It translates the concept of shelves and drawers; cubes shift and rotate on user interaction and reveal information about the different Conran enterprises and products.

The sites have been designed by Pod1 and developed using an early version of Pod1's Epifony Content Management System (based on the Symfony framework).

Chic Outlet Shopping Villages

I was brought in for the latter half of development for this large project, which involved the simultaneous launch of 9 multi-lingual village websites for Chic Outlet Shopping (Value Retail), an extranet and an admin system. I have since worked on many additional large sub-projects for the site, including the integration of a 3rd party API (Resort Hoppa) for booking travel between the Shopping Villages; and a complete redesign of the members account area.

The site has been developed using Epifony, Pod1's Content Management System (which is based on the open source Symfony web application framework). The modular approach to templating in this system allowed design and functionality to be shared across the sites; yet each containing content unique to the particular village.

Yahoo Advertising

Involved in the development and staggered launch of 5 multi-lingual UK, International and European sites for Yahoo Advertising. The websites are an online portal for Yahoo!'s B2B sector and allow Yahoo! to showcase their portfolio and communicate with potential and existing customers.

The sites have been designed by Pod1 and developed using an early version of Pod1's Epifony Content Management System (based on the Symfony framework). The modular approach to templating in this system allowed design and functionality to be shared across the sites; yet each containing content and some functionality unique to the region.

Responsible for developing a custom e-commerce solution (using our custom Content Management System and e-shop, Gutenberg) to showcase up-and-coming artists. The site is a showcase for talented artists allowing registered users to upload their work and sell directly from the website.

The website contained pieces of art, information about exhibitions and showcases; and offered a unique way of searching for the right piece for you.

Responsible for the development of the initial rebuild of the original Chic Outlet Shopping hub site in 10 languages (with the original design).

This was the first site developed by Pod1 (and myself) using the open source PHP framework, Symfony (version 1.0). It made use of the in-built admin generator framework for managing dynamic content, rather than a custom CMS solution.

Responsible for maintaining their existing e-commerce solution, which features Pod1's proprietary 'Single Page Checkout'™ - making Uniqlo the first UK e-commerce site to use an Ajax-based one-page checkout.

Responsible for maintaining the original website for Barceló Hotels (formerly Paramount), which uses an early version of Pod1's custom Content Management System, Gutenberg. The website compliments their existing branding and gives the group a prestigious online presence.

In May 2007, Paramount won the honour of being named Best Hotel Website in the Travolution Awards 2007.

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines

Involved in developing the first phase of the launch using our custom Content Management System, Gutenberg. The development involved producing a highly interactive site with integration with the Google Maps API and providing in-depth search mechanisms and information about booking a cruise.

Responsible for developing the second launch phase; which involved integration with their third party booking engine, to provide cruise goers with a centralised place to book, to check and amend their bookings, and to browse and book excursions.

Responsible for the development and the successful initial launch of 10 hotel websites and a group site (with 1 later launch for a new hotel).

These websites were developed using our custom Content Management System, Gutenberg. It consisted of one admin system through which all of the sub-site content could be managed. Through the use of reusable templates the sites could be themed individually, yet maintain a consistent look and feel.

Responsible for the development of this website using our custom Content Management solution, Guteberg. This was the first major project I was involved in at Pod1.

In order to track efficiently the success of various ad campaigns, the website constructed for Picture the Loan included tailored landing pages for various pay-per-click campaigns, and heavy integration with various analytic services.

The site is unfortunately no longer active.

Involved in maintaining the current stylish website, where the perfect product can be found within 3 clicks; or via an 'As seen in' page, where customers can find and purchase easily items worn by celebrities or featured in the press. The site also makes use of Pod1's proprietry 'Single Page Checkout'™, which employs AJAX technology to condense the entire checkout procedure onto a single page.

Involved in maintaining the current website; and involved in developing a new, fully-integrated, multi-lingual relaunch. The site, built for a subsidiary of the UN, is a simple, highly accessible, information-rich resource, which 'allows users to complete other tasks when browsing the website' (one of the brief's original stipulations).
