---General Tips---

CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD REGULARLY

Neopian Standard Time:
You can find the listing of the time on the Home page or in 'world.' To help you figure the time out, it is 3 hours behind Eastern Standard Time, and 8 hours behind GMT. Neopian Time follows Pacific Standard Time because the Neopets HQ is in California.  I actually find that keeping a clock set to Neopian time makes it easier to remember certain events.

Snowager Times:
The Snowager "falls asleep" every so often for an hour each. 06:00 NST, 14:00 NST, 22:00 NST (also same times for GMT - confirmed).
When the Snowager is asleep you can sneak into his cave and you may be lucky enough to get items, an avatar, or you may get caught by an icy blast or get him as a Battledome challenger. The Snowager is in the Ice Caves.

Money Tree:
If you have a fast connection you may be able to get an item from the Money Tree. It is really hard though because they go fast from other users taking them or ghosts taking the items! You can find all kinds of items here, as they are donated by other members, and sometimes Neopet's staff themselves! The money tree is located in the main shops area.

Sponsor Sign Ups:
You can get a lot of free items from sponsor sign ups. All you have to do is watch your "My Items" page for new links to sponsors.  The latest one was garden gnomes and trees.

Random Events:
Occasionally you'll find items such as neggs, map pieces, faeries, Neopoints, food, and more on the floor. It happens often, but you have to move around a lot to get anything, or do a lot of refreshing. :) I find most on the News, Neomail, Games, and Explore pages

Shops:
When using the Shop Wizard don't just take the first set or prices that come up. Keep hitting refresh. Often the cheapest price doesn't show to you first. You sometimes have to keep refreshing to get it. Many times I have kept hitting refresh and found ultra rare items for only 1NP!

Saving Money:
It is impossible to be broke in this game and it is annoying when people say they are. There are numerous ways to make NP - but the important part is to SAVE it. What I like to do is take any winnings I get from games and put half into a bank account (found in the Shops section). If you always do this and don't spend this money for a while, you're going to gain more NP. Once you have 15,000 NP in your bank account you start gaining interest, and as you gain more Neopoints you can upgrade your bank account and get a better rate of interest. There is no way to be poor so please don't ask for handouts, especially because most "seasoned" Neopians will just tell you this same thing!

Free Food:
- The Giant Omelette:
The Giant Omelette is located on the plateau in Tyrannia. You can go there once per day and collect one free omelette. Omelettes are great sources for food, as one whole omelette can equal three pieces of food!  You can also find them to buy cheaply in other user's shops.
- The Giant Jelly:
The Giant Jelly is located in Jelly World *shhh it doesn't exist* - you can go there once a day and it serves 2 portions.
- The Soup Kitchen:
If you do not have many Neopoints, try going to the soup kitchen. (located in the Marketplace.) and the Soup Faerie will fill your pet up for food at no cost!
- Earth Faerie Quests:
If you happen to get a Earth Faerie quest, and have the item handy, she will fill your pets up with food, and regain all lost hit points (I still don't think this is worth it)
- Healing Springs:
Sometimes you can get full from the Healing Springs - "your pets regain all their lost hit points and are not hungry anymore."
- Random Events:
Occasionally while surfing the site, you will find random pieces of food.
- You can also get free food from the Shrine, the Fruit Machine and the Tombola as well if you're lucky.

Map Pieces:
The four ways to get Map Pieces are: Random Events, Auctions, Trading Post and the Shop Wizard. Yes, some of them are pricey, but these are the items that you can possibly receive if completing the maps.
Original Treasure Map: You get 8000-10000NP and 3-4 rare items
Space Map: 8,000-10,000NP and 3-6 rare items. The Space Faerie also often raises your pets level by 1 or 2. (Retired)
Spooky Map: 8000-10000NP and 5-8 common or rare spooky food items.
Underwater Map: 8000-10000NP, level up for all pets and 5-8 common or rare Maraqua (Now Mystery Island) food items.  (Retired)
Secret Laboratory Map: 5000-10000NP and constant access to the Secret Lab Ray. The Lab ray can have some good effects on your pet such as raising it's intelligence, strength, and changing it's colours to those of rare brushes. It also can have negative affects such as morphing your pet into another species entirely, reducing its levels or even sending it back to level 1.
Petpet Laboratory Map: You must have the ordinary Lab map first. This then gives you access to the petpet lab. This can change your petpet's name, colour, species or level (up or down) - it can also turn it into a pile of soot (gets you an avatar), or make it completely disappear.
